Lila Corwin Berman is the Paul & Sylvia Steinberg Professor of American Jewish History and the director of the Goldstein-Goren Center for American Jewish History at NYU. Her forthcoming book explores the shifting legal categories of citizenship and its rights. She is the author of The American Jewish Philanthropic Complex: The History of a Multibillion-Dollar Institution (2020), awarded the Ellis W. Hawley Prize from the Organization of American Historians and the Saul Viener Book Prize from the American Jewish Historical Society.
