The Nexus Project

Who We Are

The Nexus Project advocates for full implementation of the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, including its framework for understanding antisemitism, which “welcomes and recognizes the Nexus Document. We raise awareness and educate against the misuse of accusations of antisemitism as political weapons and the conflation of Jew-hatred with legitimate criticism of Israeli policy, which undermines the fight against the increasing threat of antisemitism.

We provide fact-based analysis and advocate for policies that promote allyship and action instead of division. We support robust education about what antisemitism is and what it isn’t, and we oppose the codification of any single tool to identify it. Our foundational guide for understanding antisemitism and its manifestations is the Nexus Document.

Our Work

The Nexus Project cuts through partisan noise and encourages effective government action against antisemitism. We stand for policies that promote solidarity and inclusion rather than sow division. We advocate for robust implementation of the U.S. National Strategy’s over 100 concrete recommendations to tackle this pernicious scourge.

Advocacy and Education

The Nexus Leadership Project engages with American civic and political leaders, scholars, and decision-makers to foster an understanding of antisemitism, particularly where it intersects with Israel-related issues. Through education, advocacy, and fact-based analysis, we promote comprehensive strategies to combat antisemitism, including full implementation of the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. We oppose measures inconsistent with this strategy, such as attempts to codify a single definition of antisemitism. Our work aims to build alliances against antisemitism while equipping policymakers with resources and guidance to understand and address antisemitism.

Research and Thought Leadership

The Nexus Task Force, composed of leading experts and scholars, promotes a greater understanding of issues at the intersection of Israel and antisemitism. Its White Paper “Understanding Antisemitism at its Nexus with Israel and Zionism” aims to identify how antisemitism shows up today, especially in connection with debates around Israel and Zionism. The Nexus Document, derived from the White Paper, was embraced as a valuable tool for raising awareness and included in the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. Affiliated with The Bard Center for the Study of Hate, the Task Force provides an academic space for research and deliberation on evolving manifestations of antisemitism, drawing on the expertise of Bard faculty and students.
