Judith Lichtman

JUDITH LICHTMAN is an American attorney specializing in women’s rights who spearheaded the successful campaign for the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993. Currently serving as a consultant to the National Partnership for Women and Families — a nonprofit dedicated to advancing policies, education, and advocacy for women and families — Lichtman has been integral to the organization since 1974, when she joined as its first paid staff member. Over the years, she has held the positions of both executive director and president. Beyond her work with the National Partnership, Lichtman co-founded EMILY’s List and serves on its board. Her civic leadership includes chairing the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights along with service on numerous other boards and advisory committees.
