Derek Penslar is the William Lee Frost Professor of Jewish History and a resident faculty member at The Center for European Studies at Harvard University. Using a comparative and transnational approach to Jewish history, Pensler studies Zionism and modern Israel within the contexts of modern European and Middle Eastern history, Jewish history, nationalism, and colonialism.
