Nexus Project Condemns Brutal Killing of Israeli Embassy Staff Members in Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC: The Nexus Project is horrified and heartbroken by the brutal killing of two young Israeli Embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C.

This was a clear act of antisemitic violence, targeting individuals at a Jewish professionals event held at a Jewish cultural institution. Anyone who truly believes in the dignity and rights of all people has an obligation to name this for what it is and to speak out against the increasingly normalized hatred that fueled this attack.

We call for justice for the victims of this brutal attack, and reaffirm our commitment to fighting antisemitism in all its forms while building the resiliency necessary to reject such extremism and hate.

Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of Yaron and Sarah, whose futures were tragically cut short by this act of hate that has no place in our society. Our thoughts are with the Israeli Embassy staff, with the broader Jewish community, and all those affected by this attack.

Long before last night’s violence, Jews were feeling vulnerable and scared. Antisemitism and extremist hate have skyrocketed over the past years, and this attack represents the dangerous escalation of increasingly normalized bigotry that threatens Jewish safety and undermines the very fabric of our democracy. It is critical that all communities and vulnerable minorities stand together, across lines of difference, to condemn violence, combat hate, and oppose all efforts to polarize and divide us against one another.
