Director of the Nexus Center for Antisemitism Research Aryeh Tuchman explained to The New York Times how Michigan Democratic Senate Candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s criticism of Israel can upset some Jewish Americans while still avoiding crossing the line into overt antisemitism. Following podcaster and commentator Tucker Carlson supporting El-Sayed, Tuchman shared: “El-Sayed is harshly critical of Israel and its supporters in ways that some Jews find uncomfortable…But Carlson’s opposition to Israel is bound up with classic antisemitic ideas.”
