Some of what we cover this week is antisemitism. Some of it is the word being used for something else. The distinction is the whole point of Nexus, and this edition is a good illustration of why it matters.

Nexus Calls for a Full Investigation into the Antisemitism Task Force

Former DOJ attorney Haley Van Erem has filed a whistleblower disclosure alleging that Title VI antisemitism investigations were politically motivated, opened with predetermined outcomes, and pursued in ways unsupported by the facts and contrary to law. Ranking Member Jamie Raskin has demanded answers from the Department of Justice.

Nexus called for the investigation to go to its full conclusion. Kevin Rachlin, our VP of Government Relations, put it this way: “Jewish students and faculty deserve investigations conducted in good faith, not contrived as a pretext for punishing universities the administration had already decided to go after.”

Understanding Antisemitism

Yes, “Goyslop” Is Antisemitic

Tucker Carlson used the word to attack Ben Shapiro this month. We broke down where it comes from.

The term comes from 4chan, where white nationalists coined it in 2016. “Goy” plus “slop,” as in pig feed. The claim underneath is that Jews control food production (as well as the distribution of any mindless entertainment) and use it to keep non-Jews docile. It has since spread to Groypers, fitness influencers, and teenagers who have no idea what it means.

Where the Audience Actually Is

We compared the reach of the most viral antisemites to mainstream media. Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson each pull several times more YouTube views than the year’s most-watched Netflix show. Carlson’s interview with Nick Fuentes outdrew Fox’s top program five to one. Two of the four biggest news podcasts in America are theirs.

“Twitter is not real life” gets less true every year.

Antisemitism in the News

FBI Data: Fewer Antisemitic Hate Crimes, Still Two-Thirds of All Religious Ones

The FBI’s 2025 crime statistics show anti-Jewish hate crimes down about 21 percent, from 1,938 incidents to 1,528.

Good news, with a catch. Jews are 2 percent of the country and still account for two-thirds of religion-based hate crimes. Congress should pass the Antisemitism Response and Prevention Act and fund the response infrastructure this data keeps calling for.

DHS Names a Surveillance Operation After a Conspiracy Theory

Court filings revealed that Homeland Security sent undercover agents into churches, libraries, and union halls to surveil anti-ICE protesters in Minnesota. The operation was called Puppet Master, and its stated goal was tracing who funds protest movements, following a Trump memorandum built around fears that George Soros bankrolls domestic terrorism.

Wealthy Jews pulling strings behind popular movements is one of the oldest antisemitic narratives there is. Federal law enforcement named an operation after it.

Forward: Nexus Backs the DOJ Whistleblower

The Forward covered the whistleblower report and Raskin’s investigation, noting Nexus’s statement in support of both. The piece walks through the allegations, including a medical school probe launched off a single New York Post article and funding suspensions the report describes as coercive regardless of what investigators found.

Devil Horns, Border Conspiracies, and a Win at Penn

An AI-generated image of a Jewish candidate with devil horns is still the same image antisemites have drawn for centuries. A conspiracy theory about Israel engineering a migrant crisis is just another form of the Great Replacement conspiracy theory.
